DLSR Movie Making

A brief summary of the most important settings to watch.

Filming with the DSLR for getting a real movie look

  1. Set ISO, Focus, Aperture and Time to manual, ISO at the lowest possible value (e.g. 100 or 200) to avoid noise.
  2. Use HD1080 (1920×1080) 24fps movie capture settings.
  3. Use double fps as shutter speed (50fps) to retain the cinema movie look.
  4. Use a tripod or stand to avoid shaking or similar.
  5. Reduce Saturation and Contrast to make sure all details are captured. While this will give you a flat image look, you will be able to adjust important detail easier later.
  6. Use a lens with up to F-stop 4 to get the right depth of field.
